The below verses are a group of references taken from the Southern Baptist Faith and Message. There will be more to come, but this is a start. Rather than parroting off the statement from the Baptist Faith and Message, let’s just read these scriptures and let the words speak for themselves. All verses are from the New King James Version (NKJV). First, a brief summary in my own words.
1. Is the Bible Accurate?
From these passages, the Bible claims to be self evident. Words given straight from God to the prophets. Specifically moses is named. The words are worthy for reading and learning from. The written words are what they are. Not to be argued with, added to or decreased in anyway. The words of the Bible are not exactly a rule book, or a burden, but it holds a promise for those who live by it. It holds both a blessing and a curse. Which one it is depends largely on whether we choose to live by the words or not.
To live by the words of the Bible means to have multiple promises of blessing. To choose to not live by the Bible, or ignore it, means the promises of curses.
If you are still not trusting that the Bible is accurate from a scholarly standpoint, just visit your favorite search engine and look for, “accuracy of the bible”. To have any Christian, or religious beliefs all teachings are taken from what the Bible says. The Bible even testifies to itself. It can do this because it was written by several humans, spanning over centuries, and all in agreement. The Bible is one reliable source where we learn about God. If a person can’t trust that the Bible is God’s definitive words, then there can be no foundation for any other Christian beliefs.
Exodus 24:4
4 And Moses wrote all the words of the LORD. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according
to the twelve tribes of Israel.
Deuteronomy 4:1-2
1 “Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD
God of your fathers is giving you. 2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD
your God which I command you.
Deuteronomy 17:19
19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the LORD his God and be careful to observe all the
words of this law and these statutes,
Joshua 8:34
34 And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and the cursings, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law.
