Last weekend I got to visit with the new grandbaby. I think the new factor has worn off for grandma. That's her problem. It was almost like old times when our kids were young. At one point grandma handed off Odie to me to watch for a while. She was getting to be a little too much for grandma.
I held her on my lap for about 10 seconds before she wanted to get on the floor and snoop around. So I let her. Grandma didn't like that. It's OK, I got down on the floor too and followed the baby around. We found all kinds of stuff. Finally though, Odie crawled behind the recliner. A place where grandpa's big butt wouldn't fit. Grandma caved in and came to our rescue.
Then Odie got to sit in the recliner while grandpa rocked her. That was fun for a while, until Odie discovered that it doesn't work the same when you stand up in the chair. We made her "owie" on her fore head all better. Picked her up off the floor and had some lunch. For a little baby, that girl can eat.
Later she had some free time to run laps, make that crawl laps, around the house. That afternoon we also went to visit some other relatives and enjoyed a party to celebrate graduations of a couple cousins.
Later in the week, grandma made a return trip, mainly to visit with her own mommy and daddy. Since Odie's mom and dad found out all about it, grandma got roped into babysitting again. The original plan was to visit and help out with some minor chores in the yard. At least until Odie kept trying to eat all the blades of grass she could shove into her mouth. She would crawl around to find leaves, sticks or whatever looked interesting. Maybe they should have named her Curious George. Then dad would have to start wearing big yellow hats. I don't think he would go for that.
One last note, Odie can say a few words now. All the usuall stuff. Mama, dada, hi,and a few others. I'll have to ask grandma again for the whole vocabulary list.

This is actually getting posted about a week late. After our fun visit with Odie and snapping off a few photos, we had a storm in town that knocked out power and we couldn't surf the web too well by candle light. Odie is getting bigger, perkier, but not quite talking yet. Teeth will be coming soon. Good thing because she is starting to eat real people food, at least the stuff that can be mashed up or come in a jar.
Just the little Odie.
Odie with her mom and dad.
It's Odie and dad again, but who is that old dude? Must be Grandpa.
It's Odie with Grandma Robin and Grandpa Keith.
It's Grandma's little girl.
It's Grandpa and his hot new girlfriend. Shh... Don't tell Grandma.
1/29/2006. Just a couple days early to say that Odie is now 3 months old! She is growing bigger and stronger all the time. She got to visit with her Uncle Nate back in December, just before he had to go away for a few months. They had a blast playing together. No new pictures quite yet, but we may have some soon.
Accomplishments:
- Can hold up her head.
- Sit by herself, but with a little help.
- Turn over. Turning over at this point is more like a simi-controled flop, but the more she does it, the more graceful Odie will be about it.
Frustrations:
- Turning over. Especially when she whacks her nose on a hard kitchen table top. Good thing Grandma Robin was there to make it all better. Oops, keep practicing.
Dislikes:
- Hiccups. She really, really don't like hiccups. They make her cry.
- Diapers that are less than dry. I can't blame her on that one.
Likes:
- Sneezing. Odie enjoys a good sneeze, they make her smile and sometimes even laugh.
- No clothes. She seems to really like to lay around with little or no clothes on. Watch out Dave, you might want to make her stop that sometime in the next 16 or 18 years or so.
- Eating, sleeping and geting plenty of attention. Fortunately Odie has plenty of aunts, uncles and grandparents who are more than happy to take over when mom and dad need a break.
- 11/24/2005. Happy Thanksgiving! We had a nice visit at my sister's house where Odie was able to join us. Mom and Dad slept while Odie made the rounds and was held by all the uncles, aunts, cousins and Grand parents. Great-Grandma was there but had to leave before Odie could make her appearance. Bummer. Now she has to wait until Christmas to see her. A few pictures were taken but I don't have them ready to post just yet. Everybody commented on how little and skinny Odie is. She has a full head of hair, not too thick yet. Also long fingers and toes. Grandpa says, "If her toes were webbed, they would be flippers." Still she is just as cute as a baby can be.
