God: The Details are in the Spirit. Job 26:13

Job 26:13  By his Spirit the heavens are garnished. His hand has pierced the swift serpent.

Everybody who has ever picked up a Bible and turned to the opening pages has read the lines that says that God created the heavens and the earth. We also are told in the New Testament, "All things were made through him. Without him was not anything made that has been made." John 1:3. One element that gets overlooked is the Job of the Holy Spirit in creation.

A good contractor can build a house. He orchestrates the entire job. All things are made through him. Without him there isn't anything made that he hasn't had a hand in making. Hey, that sounds familiar. Then you have carpenters who come in and rough in the structure. Laying the foundation, putting up the studs for wals, laying the floors, the ceiling, and the roof. The kind of things mentioned in Genesis 1.

A house isn't a house until the finishing work is done. It isn't just enough to have plaster on the walls, and carpet on the floor, there all those small, delicate details. What color is the interior paint? What about the color and texture of the carpet, what kind of furniture, how will it be arranged in each room, what paintings or wall decoration, what about molding around the baseboard, the curtains, the plumbing fixtures, kitchen cabinets, and so many more details?

In this verse from Job he mentions a big thing, the heavens, and a small thing, a serpent. Think of the intricate details of what is in the heavens. Birds that fly around there, stars, planets, and clouds. Each bird, each cloud, each star is different in its own subtle way. A snake has patterns that cover it's body. Even the ones that are a plain brown, or green, or black have small details to be able to tell each one apart.

The word 'pierce' is one that is used when talking about doing craft work. In the Genesis account, the Spirit is said to brood over the surface. To gently hover over like a mother hen does to her eggs and chicks. The Spirit gets the credit for all the fine details and delicate things we observe in nature.

God may have made the mountains, but take a close look. The Spirit put the ridges, the crevases, the trees and plants that grow on the mountains. God made the forrest, but the Spirit made the trees, the smallest bush, designed the delicate paterns in each leaf and the color of each flower.

Enjoy nature and the work of the Holy Spirit.
